We are working toward adding weather information to help increase accuracy of our hydration predictions. Currently, Android users need to allow location services in order to find and connect to the sensor.
iOS: Bluetooth permissions should be granted to search and connection device, Notifications should be allowed, Location permission must be granted, Wifi & Cellular enabled.
Android: Bluetooth permissions should be granted to search and connection device, Notifications should be allowed, Location permission must be granted, Permission to use battery in the background must be granted, Battery optimization - turned OFF, Battery saving mode - OFF, Wifi & Cellular enabled.
We adjust your hydration recommendations according to your weight to stay within safe hydration limits. Fluctuations in weight also provide information on how your hydration changes.
Yes, it's essential to perform calibrations. Calibrations should be done at the start of the day for three consecutive days. It is best to be well-hydrated during calibration. Calibration helps ensure that the device provides accurate recommendations for your fluid intake. You should also recalibrate if you travel to a new geographical location, experience rapid weight changes, tan significantly, or switch the device to a different user.
Water, herbal tea, juice, sodas and broth can all be hydrating beverages. Coffee and light alcohol can also contribute to your water intake, but these drinks are dehydrating when you consume a lot of it. Your water intake does not just need to come from liquids, however: high-water-content fruits and vegetables such as cucumber, celery, tomato, watermelon and grapes are excellent sources of hydration.
The app provides recommendations based on the data from the sensor and your personal information. It calculates your hydration needs and suggests when and how much fluid you should drink to stay properly hydrated.
Your body constantly uses water to function. Even if you are well-hydrated, you may need to drink water to maintain that state. The recommendations are designed to help you maintain optimal hydration levels.
To receive notifications, it's essential to keep the app open in the background, especially for iOS users. Android users should choose to allow the app to run in the background. If you're still not receiving notifications, ensure that the app is not being closed by your device's system and check that the sensor is connected to your mobile device. You can close and reopen the app to refresh the app.
To add Activities, go to the Activity tab. Select Hydration, Exercise or Weigh-in and enter the relevant activity information. Press submit to send the information. For exercise, remember to stop your exercise session once you’re done. Activities can only be added during an active session.
Check that your phone has Bluetooth turned on and that the sensor is on. If you are on Android, make sure the location permissions for the Geca Watch app are enabled so that you can find the sensor. If you are still unable to connect, try to disable and re-enable the Bluetooth on your phone. Lastly, switch your sensor off and on again and go to the connections tab on the Geca Watch app to connect to the sensor.
Yes, the sensor needs to be connected to your phone so it can connect to the internet and receive recommendations. Keep your phone close to you so that Bluetooth connection is not lost.
If you lose connectivity, do not restart the sensor (i.e. do not turn the sensor on and off again)! The sensor needs to stay on even when not connected to your phone. Unsent readings will stay in the sensor’s memory and will be sent to the app once the sensor is connected to your phone again.
The side indicator light (next to power button) shows the sensor functioning.
Solid green (when not plugged in): Sensor is on and ready to connect to a mobile device. Green light will turn off once sensor is connected.

The battery should last at least 1-2 full days, depending on how long you are wearing the Geca Watch. We suggest that you turn off the sensor and charge overnight to ensure you have enough battery to last the next full day.
Connect to the sensor with your phone. The battery indicator will show on the sensor tab once connected, as well as in the top right corner of the app.
The sensor is best worn on your non-dominant wrist. It is important to stay consistent where you wear the sensors so that our algorithms can provide accurate hydration predictions.
The sensor is sweat resistant but NOT waterproof. It's important to avoid submerging it in water or exposing it to excessive moisture to prevent damage.
The Geca device is not FDA approved and does not diagnose any medical condition. Please consult a medical provider if you have any health concerns.
It takes 5-15 minutes for the sensor to detect your hydration. It is encouraged to wear the GECA throughout the day.
